Most customers prefer to be offered a complete solution for their products, which will include surface finish. Nearly all parts made from ferrous materials need protection from corrosion as a minimum.
We have installed our own in-house Powder coating facility because sheet metal products often require an aesthetically pleasing finish at a reasonable cost. Powder coating provides a commercial finish in a good range of colours.
Products are first pre-treated by active de-greasing and phosphate etching to assist paint adhesion. The powder coating involves electrostatically charging the work piece so that the powder is attracted to it – you can see this process in our virtual factory tour. When parts have been cured, they can be handled and assembled as soon as they are cool.
