Vacuum forming is a process where plastic sheet is stretched over a former and then drawn into recesses by applying a vacuum.
We make the formers ‘in-house’ using 3D Modelling to design them and then produce them on our 3 axis Vertical Machining Centre.
When the plastic sheet has been heated, the former is raised, draping the soft sheet over the high points. When a vacuum is applied, the sheet is drawn into any recesses, accurately reproducing the shape of the former. Please use the virtual factory tour to see the process happen.
The surface finish is cosmetically very good and there are applications for many industry sectors.
The robot routing machine provides an accurate and efficient method of removing the ‘flash’ and making holes etc.
